Delete your SmartReader account

This page explains how to request deletion of your SmartReader: Learn English account and the personal data associated with it.

Choose how to delete your account

Deleting the SmartReader application from your device does not by itself delete your account. Use one of the methods below.

Method 1: Delete the account in the application

  1. Open SmartReader: Learn English.
  2. Sign in to the account you want to delete.
  3. Open your Profile or account settings.
  4. Select the option to delete your account.
  5. Complete any requested recent sign-in or identity confirmation.
  6. Confirm permanent deletion.

Method 2: Request deletion by email

Send a request from the email address connected to your SmartReader account. Include the account email address and clearly state that you want the account and associated data deleted.

What will be deleted

AccountYour Firebase Authentication account and SmartReader account identifier.
Personal storiesStories and related content stored under your user account.
VocabularySaved words, review stages, contexts, and review dates.
Learning activityFavorites, reading progress, streak information, activity history, and synchronized learning settings.
Account profileAccount-related profile data stored under your Firebase user identifier.

The in-app deletion process removes the account data stored under your user identifier in Cloud Firestore and deletes the associated Firebase Authentication account.

Data that may remain temporarily

  • Data stored only on your device may remain until you clear the application storage or uninstall the application.
  • Temporary cache files are normally removed by the application or operating system.
  • Copies in provider backup systems may remain for a limited period before scheduled deletion.
  • Security logs, fraud-prevention records, or support correspondence may be retained when reasonably necessary or legally required.
  • Information needed to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims may be retained for the applicable limitation period.

Any retained information will no longer be used for ordinary application functions.

Identity verification

To protect your account, we may ask you to confirm ownership of the account or send the request from its registered email address.

Do not send passwords, payment-card details, passport copies, or other unnecessary sensitive documents.

Subscriptions

Deleting your account does not automatically cancel an active subscription purchased through Google Play or the Apple App Store.

Cancel the subscription separately through the store account used for the purchase.

Contact us if you cannot access the in-app deletion option or no longer have access to your account.
